About

ABOUT ME!

Sanda Shandu, a Cape Town-based actor, voice artist and musician, was born in Durban and

raised in Newcastle, KZN.

He completed a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Economics and Organizational Psychology at the

University of Cape Town in 2015.

As a classically trained vocalist and pianist, Sanda swiftly

embarked on his professional journey. His debut came in The Fugard Theatre’s “Orpheus In

Africa” as Richard Collins in 2015.

In 2017, Sanda’s talent shone brighter as he portrayed the menacingly smooth gangster, Lucky

Lukasi, in South Africa’s legendary hit musical “King Kong” at The Fugard Theatre and Joburg

Theatre. This role earned him his first Fleur du Cap and Naledi awards for Best Supporting Actor

in a Musical.

Continuing his success, Sanda received Fleur du Cap nominations for his supporting roles in

“Richard III”, as Richmond, at Maynardville Open-Air Theatre in 2019 and “The Unlikely Secret

Agent”, as Steenkamp/various, in 2021. In 2022, he portrayed Nick in the 60th anniversary

production of “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf”, garnering him additional Fleur du Cap and

Naledi nominations.

In 2023, Sanda graced the stage in “The Promise On Stage” as Lukas/various, with sold-out runs

in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

This year he has captivated audiences in Duncan Macmillan’s West End hit “Lungs” as Man, before returning to “The Unlikely Secret Agent” at The Market

Theatre in Johannesburg.

On screen, Sanda’s versatility shines through in Netflix’s “The Kissing Booth” as Randy, and in

local films such as “1960” (Showmax) and “Mlungu Wam” (Prime Video). He also delivers

captivating performances in South African tv series such as “Skemerdans” (Showmax) as

Charlie and “Donkerbos” (Showmax) as Tshedza Tshivenga.

With over 10 years in the entertainment industry and an Economics degree, this man is the definition of SHOW BUSINESS!
